- Description
- Disagrees with Gardiner Stillwell's argument (1950) that PF cannot be read as a poem on the occasion of the betrothal of Prince Richard of England and Princess Marie of France because it is comic. Reviews Chaucer's other occasional poems (Truth, Venus, and Purse) that combine comedy with courtly compliment and suggests that PF functions similarly.
