- Edits (with facsimile pages) "three sixteenth-century fragments of a poetical miscellany" found in different extant manuscripts and, in early attributions, was credited to Chaucer. The Introduction explains why these attributions are inaccurate, athetizing the work from Chaucer's canon, and clarifying the nature of the fragments and their place in print history and English literary tradition. Also clarifies that "The Pilgrim's Tale," included in one of the manuscripts, was also misattributed to Chaucer.
