- Description
- Assesses the "formal organising principle" of Hoccleve’s "Series" in light of that of CT (and LGW). Argues that CT is "not just incomplete, but incompleteable" (citing the additivity entailed in CYP), explaining it as Chaucer's response to the conditions of the material production of his work and the inevitability of his own death. Hoccleve's "Series" is also "variable and open-ended" but its incompleteness is constrained by "the way the text presents authorship."
