- Description
- Assesses editions and translations of Chaucer's works between 1660 and 1750 (including Speght 3, Dryden, Urry, and Morrell) for the ways they reflect the principles and practices of Augustan scholarship, lexicography, aesthetic outlooks, social assumptions, as well as Chaucer's reception. Argues that editorial practices of the time anticipate later techniques and includes a list of previously unnoted allusions to Chaucer's works.
