Jean of Angoulême: A Fifteenth-Century Reader of Chaucer
- Published
- Neuphilologische Mitteilungen 72 (1971): 69-76.
- Description
- Records the generally positive view of Chaucer as a "compilator" of CT found in Bibliothèque Nationale Paris MS, fonds anglais 39, once owned by John of Angoulême. The rubrics of the manuscript, executed by the scribe Duxworth, record particular favor for the KnT, with less favorable views of several Tales, perhaps reflecting the aristocratic tastes of the owner.
