- Description
- Reorients the critical habit of assessing the structure and details of HF in light of Gothic architecture, arguing that the poem affiliates "Gothic" and "Other," and "dramatizes" the narrator's encounter with the "familiar world of the self and the unfamiliar world of the Other." Each of the three settings of the poem pose versions of otherness and the man of great authority "embodies the doubleness of identification."
