Description
CYPT shares details and concerns found in other late medieval and early modern English alchemical treatises, part of the genre of "alchemical autobiography." Like CYPT in considering the function of organic material (especially excrement) in alchemical transformation, other treatises, however, are less satiric than Chaucer's work: Thomas Norton's "Ordinal of Alchemy," Bernard of TreĢvisan's "Livre," George Ripley's "Compound of Alchemy," and others.
