Reading Chaucer's 'Nun's Priest's Tale': Mixed Genres and Multi-Layered Worlds of Illusion

- Description
- NPT can best be approached by focusing on form and style rather than on theme and narrator. Attempting to define a central theme or message is frustrated by the Tale's allusive richness and multiplicity of perspectives, and the narrator is largely generated by the Tale. An example of Chaucer's "virtuoso comic art at its height," NPT leaves central matters of interpretation to the reader.
