- Description
- Examines the pageant of sins in the first book of Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene as a reflection of one stage in the development from the Pauline "theological" notion of sin to a "material-psychological" understanding. Compares Spenser's depiction with Chaucer's in ParsT, which is based on a Boethian notion of sin as a failure to recognize the nature of goodness.
