- Description
- Describes the inadequacy of the 1911 facsimile of Ellesmere and introduces the new facsimile--"as accurate a photographic copy of the original as modern technology allows."
- Surveying the contents of the volume accompanying the new facsimile, Stevens suggests (among other observations) that a "redefinition of authorship" emerges when one views the original Ellesmere "production team" as having constructed a Chaucerian voice composed of Chaucer's own work and of its redaction by these early editors.
