Chaucer's 'Second Nun's Tale': Reception, Religious Ideology, and the Apocalyptic

- Description
- In light of Hans Jauss's reception theory, most scribes' and readers' glosses characterize SNT as either a study of Cecilia's personality or a reflection of Chaucer's religious nature. The narrative structure, however, places it at the juncture of mundane and eternal time. SNT plays an important role in CT, shifting attention beyond this earth.
