- This edition of the northern version of the Middle English romance "Octovian" complements the editor's earlier edition of the southern version in the MET series (Heidelberg, 1979) and includes a full introduction, apparatus, notes, and glossary. The Thornton (L) and Cambridge (C) MSS are printed as parallel texts, while the fragmentary quarto edition (H) printed by Wynkyn de Worde, ca. 1504-06 (STC 18779), is added as an appendix.
