- Description
- Known to Boccaccio and possibly Chaucer, Lactantius Placidus's commentary is one of the earliest on the classics that deeply influenced the tradition of medieval mythography. Composed in the fifth or sixth century, it circulated widely in the early Middle Ages in northern France and central Germany and attracted new interest in the early Italian Renaissance.
