- Suggests that "Alcestis enters English literature" in LGWP, briefly summarizing her appearance there, indicating that Boccaccio's "Genealogiae deorum gentilium" is Chaucer's likeliest source, and observing that "Alcestis' metamorphosis into a daisy ('day's eye'), whence her outfit, is a nice, Ovidian touch of Chaucer's own." Also cites Chaucer's four other references to Alcestis at TC 7.1527 and 1778, MLP 1.75, and FranT 4.1442.
